NOLA for Life Midnight Basketball at Crocker College Prep

We're excited to host the 8th season of NOLA for Life Midnight Basketball at Crocker College Prep! 

NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball focuses on providing safe recreational opportunities in crime hot spots for males over 16 years old through basketball, mentorship and support. The free 8-week season will kick-off at Lawrence D. Crocker College Prep at 8 p.m.  Regular tournament play will take place Saturday nights, from February 28 - to April 18  ending weekly at midnight

OPEN HOUSE: Sylvanie Williams College Prep

Sylvanie Williams College Prep will host an Open House on Tuesday, February 24th from 2 - 4pm. 

Sylvanie Williams College Prep (SWCP) is an open enrollment school and will have PreK through 6th grade in the 2015 - 2016 school year.  

SWCP has college prep curriculum, small group instruction, and after-school programs including athletics, band, choir, and dance.

Sylvanie Williams College Prep Students Visit Selma

Sylvanie Williams College Prep Principal, Krystal Hardy, a Selma, Alabama native, brought thirty students to visit her hometown and learn more about the historic civil rights events that happened there fifty years ago. Third through fifth graders earned their spot on the trip through good behavior and academic performance in the second quarter. Highlights of the trip included:

  • Selma, AL Mayor George Evans hosting students at the National Voting Rights Museum and then the group walking the Edmund Pettus Bridge

Last Wednesday the New Orleans College Prep family gathered together for some holiday cheer at the NOCP Holiday Concert. We’re excited to launch the brand new NOLACollegePrep.org! The site has been redesigned with our current and potential parents, students, and staff members as well as alumni and community members in mind! The site is also optimized for mobile and tablet so you can get information about NOCP wherever you are.

Our goal is to showcase the amazing work across our network of schools. You’ll find:

iPads for our English Language Learners

“Most of the kids that I’m working with right now haven’t been in the country for half a year. They basically have no background in English," Klein said.

WDSU talks to Ms. Klein, NOCP's English Language Learners (ELL) teacher, about her fundraising efforts. NOCP has over twenty-five students who are learning English and most have recently moved to the United States. Her goal is to get iPads for her students so they can access language apps in and out of the classroom to excelerate their learning.
