Work / Life Balance at NOCP

By Ben Kleban

I was recently struck by an auto-reply to an e-mail which read “what a relief it is to not have to open emails as I am out of the country”.  It reminded me that most of us view e-mail as work to be done, and having work to be done (aka “e-mail”) 24 hours a day can be exhausting.  More importantly, the statement reveals an even more frightening premise – the belief that the only way to not “have to” open e-mail is to leave the country!

Cohen College Prep at the City-wide Senior Shoutout

On Friday, May 8th, high school seniors from across the City of New Orleans gathered in Champions Square to celebrate their hard work. Over 2500 New Orleans Seniors are graduating this year and they have been accepted to over 300 colleges with $75 million in scholarships. Cohen College Prep was well represented with Senior Jairron Isaac giving the student address and Senior Erin Lockley announcing the names and colleges of the Cohen Class of 2015. The Cohen graduating class has an acceptance rate of over 90% so far and over $2.3 million in merit scholarships!

Cohen College Prep has top college enrollment rate!

Last week the state released college graduation and enrollment numbers for the Class of 2014 and we're extremely proud of the students and staff at Cohen College Prep for having the highest college enrollment percentage of any open-enrollment high school in New Orleans

78% of Cohen College Prep's Class of 2014 enrolled in college, nearly 20 percentage points higher than the state average of 59%.
