Crocker Dads and Donuts Raving Success

It was a bright sunny Friday morning just before the Thanksgiving holiday break, when nearly 100 father and father figures lined the hallways and filled the cafeteria of Lawrence D. Crocker College Prep for the Dads and Donuts event.  This experience was designed as an opportunity to increase parental involvement from dads and father-figures in the lives of Crocker scholars.

Recap of The Choice Bus in New Orleans

Thanks to the Mattie C. Stewart Foundation and State Farm for bringing the Choice Bus to New Orleans! The Choice Bus visited Cohen College Prep, Sylvanie Williams College Prep, and Crocker College Prep. The half-prison cell half-classroom converted school bus visually displayed two different life perspectives for students, and helped them understand the power in the choices they make early in life. Our students gained a great deal of knowledge from this visit.

Nearly 1,000 students from Walter L. Cohen Senior High, Sylvanie Williams Elementary, James M. Singleton Charter and Lawrence D. Crocker Elementary schools will board The Choice Bus thanks to collaboration between State Farm® and The Mattie C. Stewart Foundation. Students will receive a firsthand look at what education can bring – at least $1 million over a person’s lifetime if they graduate from college. The half-prison cell, half-classroom converted school bus, which visually portrays two different life perspectives, will visit students Tuesday, November 15 through Friday, November 18.
